Crape Myrtles In Back Yard
Crape Myrtles are drought resistant and tolerant of different amounts of sun.
They propagate easily.
We have some which have grown very tall very quickly and others which have
a rounder, shorter shape.
Many people prune them back heavily each year to keep them from getting too big
but we have let ours grow, other than to cut off branches and shoots we did not want growing
near the bottom.
Landscapers put in three Crape Myrtles in the original landscaping in 1999,
two in the back yard. You can see how much taller the center one got from 2001 to 2002 than
the one in the back left.
